Every Tuesday this month, I’ll post a link to one of my articles along with the backstory about how the piece came to be.

I’d been writing for Risk Management magazine for awhile when I decided to pitch an article on risk management for the self-employed. The magazine, which tends to be geared toward risk managers at businesses and organizations, hadn’t run a freelance-specific piece.

The article focuses on several possible risks for freelancers, such as becoming licensed, getting insured, and paying taxes. Clearly, the piece hit a nerve: it was tweeted more than 400 times!
