The first step to writing well-crafted journalistic stories? Nailing the interviews. I come to interviews prepared to lead an engaging conversation that puts my subjects at ease. In my 15 years as a freelance writer, I’ve interviewed countless people — including scientists embarking on innovative research, health system executives designing the hospital of the future and patients and loved ones recovering from health crises. With compassion and curiosity, I ask the right questions until I find the story.

I use these interviews and other research to weave a compelling narrative, crafting a memorable story that resonates with readers. Drawing on my background as former college journalism instructor, I teach professionals how to clearly and concisely tell their own stories. I offer friendly, one-on-one or group coaching and can teach virtually or in person.
